My Manna Moments

When the children of Israel wandered for so long, God sustained them day by day. Daily there was enough nourishment-in the form of manna*-to get through that day. As I have wandered through the bewilder-ness of life, God has strengthened me by His word. Just enough for that day. This blog is a place to "pass the plate" and share the manna that has sustained my moments. And it's a place to add your insights so we can share the meal together. Bon Appetite. Not quite dead

So put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within you. Colossians 3:5 (NLT)

My cat brings me dead things. Lizards, moles, snakes, rats. She brings them to me to demonstrate that she has been the conquerer. She has put to death the pests lurking in my yard. I tell her I am so proud of her and together we celebrate.

But sometimes she brings me almost-dead things...still squirming, sometimes squealing. It's not pretty and I'm not proud.

And then I have to wonder, what sinful, earthly things lurking in me have I taken to God to say, "Look, victory" only to see Him point out that it is not quite dead.

Oh no, Carol! This communicates too beautifully. I'm laughing even while being stung by its truth--neither pretty nor proud.
